St. Theresa Church & School
Additions & Renovations
The aging facilities at St. Theresa Church and School created the need for a major overhaul of the facilities in this Catholic parish located in Palatine, Illinois. Frederick Quinn Corporation (FQC) was selected to provide At-Risk Construction Management services for this expanding congregation. Facility upgrades at both the church and school were planned and FQC implemented a course of action which allowed improvements to occur at each facility simultaneously while minimizing the impact on everyday parish activities. Highlights of this facility include:
- Twelve-classroom addition to existing school facility.
- New teacher work areas, toilet facilities and individual instruction areas
- Complete refurbishment of the existing church facility including new mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection systems.
- Re-orientation of the altar location to promote better sightlines, complete architectural upgrades including, roofing, interior finishes and liturgical furnishings.
- Addition of day chapel and narthex/gathering area.
The construction of this facility was hampered by the detection of hazardous materials during the demolition of the church. FQC developed and implemented a recovery schedule which allowed the project team to expedite the work and still deliver the facility on time.
“I found through the professionalism of your staff the whole process was not as difficult as it might have been. From the first presentation to the last days, I have seen a wonderful professionalism. ” Rev. John McNamara, Pastorback to project list
