FQC Construction Management

St. John the Evangelist Parish and School

New Church & School

The parishioners of St. John the Evangelist Parish selected Frederick Quinn Corporation (FQC) to provide At-Risk Construction Management Services for the construction of their new worship facility. The structural components of the church building presented FQC with a series of unique challenges. Because the roof structure of the facility is asymmetrical in plan, shoring systems and a complex retention ring were built and tested prior to imposing the final roof loads. This innovative design and construction technique earned the building the Award of Merit annually presented by the Association of Structural Engineers of Illinois. Some features of the building include:

  • 1100 person capacity sanctuary including glue laminated wood structural timbers and roof decking.
  • 120 person capacity day chapel with moveable glass wall system to supplement nave capacity.
  • Complete support spaces including reservation chapel area, vesting and work sacristies, meeting rooms and canopied entry.

In conjunction with the construction of the church FQC completed life safety work in the existing parochial school and converted the former church into a parish hall.

From the very beginning, your concern and attention to detail never waned. Much of your staff gave the whole job a personal interest that the job be done right and within budget. They are true professionals and were a real asset to the project. - Rev. Robert Tonelli, Pastor
