Helen Plum Library

New Helen Plum Memorial Library

In December 2015 Frederick Quinn Corporation (FQC) completed a Facility Condition Assessment Report for the Helen Plum Memorial Library. The main purpose of the Assessment Report was to evaluate building systems and their condition in order to develop a five year master maintenance schedule for planned capital improvements. The emphasis of the assessment was on the infrastructure systems (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection), though interior and exterior finishes were also part of the report. In response to the facility assessment and in coordination with a master facility plan prepared by Engberg Anderson Architects, the library board made the decision to move forward with planning for a new facility. The library board passed a November, 2016 referendum vote. Following years of site evaluation and negotiations with the local park district to remain on the existing library site, adjacent to ?, the decision was made to build the new facility on a new site on Main Street, near downtown Lombard. The new 55,000 SF two-story facility will provide modern library convieninces within the heart of the greater Lombard community. Groundbreaking is scheduled for June 2021, with completion anticipated by the end of 2022.
