New Middle School

Woodland Elementary School District 50 selected Frederick Quinn Corporation (FQC) for the construction of the Woodland Middle School. At the time, this 319,000 SF facility was the largest middle school in the Midwest. Designed to house 2,000 students at its opening, and configured for an additional 1,000 students in the future, this school boasts state of the art systems throughout. Situated on a 34 acre parcel, FQC was assigned the task of completing this facility in 16 months. This accelerated schedule was accomplished through a total team effort. FQC and the remainder of the project team established open lines of communication to ensure that information flowed quickly and efficiently, eliminating the typical delays associated with complex construction undertakings. Some of the highlights include:

  • Forty six typical classroom spaces equipped with computers, internet access, television monitors, multimedia retrieval system and voice communication systems.
  • Two technology labs utilizing state of the art systems to provide instruction in hydroponics, lasers, wind tunnels, animation, robotics and fiber optics.
  • Competition gymnasium capable of seating 2,000 spectators, convertible into a field house with four full size basketball and/or volleyball courts.
  • Cafeteria/Kitchen complex.
  • Courtyard spaces designed and constructed to allow students to study botanical phenomenon.

FQC aggressively met the project goals and delivered this impressive facility to the complete satisfaction of the client.
