FQC Construction Management

Willow Springs School District 108

Addition & Renovations

Willow Springs Elementary School was in dire need of major renovation work involving electrical, HVAC, plumbing, masonry and roof repairs. In order to meet learning environment requirements of its students, portions of the school needed to be added or improved. Frederick Quinn Corporation (FQC) successfully performed At-Risk Construction Management Services utilizing a guaranteed maximum price contract.

The challenge that faced the school district and the remainder of the project team was categorizing, prioritizing and establishing budgets for the multiple projects that needed to be completed. FQC’s pre-construction expertise allowed the school district to make quality judgments using accurate and timely information that addressed cost and logistical issues. Highlights of this facility include:

  • Library addition utilizing glue laminated wood beams and decking to form the structure complimented by expansive acoustically rated window systems to reduce outside noises.
  • Six kindergarten/primary grade classrooms addition featuring private toilet facilities, shared office spaces and custom casework.
  • Renovation of the former library into a full service cafeteria/multipurpose room complete with seamless resilient flooring systems, basketball hoops and kitchen facilities.
  • Replacement of the existing building HVAC and electrical systems, masonry restoration window replacement and asbestos abatement.
