FQC Construction Management

McHenry Elementary School District 15

New Middle School and Renovations to District Schools

McHenry Elementary School District 15 selected Frederick Quinn Corporation (FQC) to provide At-Risk Construction Management Services for the program designed to revitalize the McHenry’s elementary school system. This initiative involved six major projects including the addition of approximately 185,000 square feet of space as well as the renovation and upgrade of an additional 165,000 square feet. The cornerstone of the initiative was the construction of the new McHenry Middle School. This project enabled the client to realign its student population to better serve the demographics of the community. The features in this facility include:

  • Forty fully integrated classrooms equipped with state of the art technology.
  • Competition gymnasium and auxiliary physical education spaces designed and constructed to deliver maximum flexibility.
  • Full service food preparation area and multipurpose room capable of supporting food service and auditorium functions.

In conjunction with the completion of the Middle School, FQC successfully managed a major addition and renovation to Parkland Middle School. The additions to this facility included a multipurpose room and full service kitchen. Perhaps the biggest challenge during this program was the revitalization of five existing schools located in the district. Ranging in age from 50 to 150 years, each of these facilities were upgraded to meet current life safety requirements, including asbestos abatement, new doors, windows, toilet rooms, floor and ceiling finishes, mechanical and electrical systems. All of this work was accomplished during the span of two summer recesses. FQC successfully completed this work within these tight timelines and delivered each school to the client without compromising the school schedules.
