FQC Construction Management

Community Consolidated School District 180

Addition to Burr Ridge Middle School

Community Consolidated School District 180 selected Frederick Quinn Corporation (FQC) to provide At-Risk Construction Management Services for the construction of a 57,500 square foot addition and major renovation work at the Burr Ridge Middle School. FQC accepted responsibility for managing this task while ensuring that school activities were not interrupted. Highlights of this facility include:

  • Competition gymnasium capable of supporting full size basketball, volleyball and practice activities.
  • Two tiered computer lab within a new learning center equipped with an integrated computer network.
  • Renovation of existing gymnasium into band and choral spaces including stepped seating, practice rooms and instrument storage.

The physical properties of this site presented FQC with a unique set of obstacles to overcome. Preservation of a large number of mature oak trees was a major goal of the client. Coupled with this criteria the steep terrain of the site placed a premium on construction staging areas. FQC’s proactive management style with the prime contractors involved in this undertaking ensured that the work was coordinated and planned in order to meet the project budget and schedule.

I think the achievement I am most proud of is the great teamwork that we had between the architects, the owner, and you as the construction manager. We appreciated your expertise in bidding, the excellent handling of subs, the value engineering that saved — Dr. Terry Tamblyn, Former Superintendent
