FQC Construction Management

St. Edna Church

Additions & Renovations

The building committee at St. Edna’s Catholic Church in Arlington Heights, IL chose Frederick Quinn Corporation (FQC) to provide At-Risk Construction Management Services for the first improvement to their worship space in 40 years. While the facility generally met the needs of the parish several key components were missing. The parish truly needed a narthex/gathering area to facilitate fellowship before and after services. Additionally, a need had been identified for a large meeting room capable of hosting banquets, luncheons and medium sized gatherings. Lastly, a covered entry and improved toilet facilities were on the parish’s wish list. Updating of the worship space was also a priority. Some highlights of the building include:

  • Complete refurbishment of an existing 9,000 SF sanctuary including new lighting, power and fire alarm systems, upgraded HVAC systems and new floor and wall finishes, as well as new fixed and moveable seating.
  • Narthex and gathering space additions complete with expanded toilet areas, shrine areas, enlarged entries and covered walkways.

From the project inception the owner had expressed a desire to reoccupy the church prior to Christmas. Although the project was delayed due to the discovery of hazardous materials after work had started, FQC was able to complete the facility on time. The FQC field staff implemented a strict sequence of events to expedite the schedule and meet the owners goals.
