Lemont Public Library – Awarded – December 2014

After considering several qualified candidates, the Library Board selected Frederick Quinn Corporation (FQC) as Construction Manager for the addition and renovation to the Lemont Public library. The project is designed to renovate the existing 16,000 sf building and add a 3,000 sf addition to provide more meeting space, update staff areas, a new teen area, and a new layout of collections in both the adult and kid public space. The project will include repair and replacement of the mechanical and electrical systems, new roof and resurfacing the parking.

Award of Merit - 2014 Educational Environments Exhibition

The Service Associates of the Illinois Association of School Boards presented the Award of Merit for excellence in the design of Educational Environments to Fanning Howey and Gurnee SD 56 for Prairie Trail School on November 21, 2014.

Richton Park Public Library – Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony – September 2014

The Richton Park Library District’s new building is more than double the size of the old one, and that’s just the beginning of the story. It is a clean, well-lighted space for much more than books and one of six outstanding examples of Illinois’ library architecture in 2014.

The new 18,000 SF library will be Richton Park Library’s only facility. It includes all components of a modern library including:

·        Circulation

·        Adult Services

·        Quiet Study

·        Independent Study Rooms

·        Technology Center

·        Young Adult and Youth Services

·        Children’s Area

·        Public Meeting Rooms

·        Administration Offices

·        Staff Workroom

·        Support Spaces

 

The building is a one story structure built with a blend of precast, masonry and glazing. It is situated on the site to accommodate required site detention and parking and is oriented to accommodate future expansion. The facility will enhance the municipal town center of Richton Park, which includes a Community Center, Village Hall, Police Department and Fire Station.

Gurnee SD 56 Transportation Facility - Completed

The New Bus Transportation Facility for Gurnee School District 56 and Warren Township School District 121 consisted of a new 3,600 SF dispatch center and maintenance garage along with site development of approx. 7 acres of secured areas for the parking of district school buses and transportation personnel and is designed to accommodate the transportation needs of both school districts. Work began in Fall of 2013 and completed in the Spring of 2014.

Project highlights include a security-controlled and video-monitored bus parking facility to accommodate 80 buses, as well as administrative office space, a lunch room, bus vehicle maintenance bay, and associated service storage rooms.

On January 31, 2014 Niles Public Library celebrated the Grand Re-Opening of the Library.
